2020 Festival Cancellation Announcement

March 23, 2020

Dear Greensboro Bound Community:

With great disappointment we must announce the cancellation of our 2020 Greensboro Bound Literary Festival. With so much uncertainty around when the important social distancing measures will relax, we felt that the May 14-17, 2020 dates could not be expected to be considered safe for social gatherings.

I’m sure that this cancellation comes as little surprise to you. In these unprecedented times, we all must act in the general interest of the health and safety of our community. It is our intention to bring many of the writers scheduled for the May Festival to Greensboro in the fall or winter, circumstances permitting. So look for Billy Collins, Laila Lalami, Nancy MacLean, Emily Nemens and children’s and young adult writers Alan Gratz, Alicia D. Williams, Amy Reed and over 50 more writers of all kinds in the latter months of 2020.

While we certainly feel that Greensboro Bound is an important fixture in the Gate City art revival, we also know that we all have larger health and economic concerns at the moment. Please know that we’ll work hard to bring exciting literary events to Greensboro in the future and that we’re already at work on Greensboro Bound 2021. But for now, take care of yourself and those around you, keep your appropriate social distances, and use your time to read some books. It’s good for you.

With All Best Wishes,
Greensboro Bound
